Many years ago, I recognized the importance of maintaining a peaceful state of mind. That’s likely because my life has always been dynamic, intense, and bursting with passion, since birth, I’ve experienced, and been told.

Over 30 years ago, I began a ‘deep dive’ into my own spirituality. This exploration was a personal one, whereby I sought to establish a relationship between me and God. …A really close one, with no one in between, for no one seemed True. I did not want the layer of religion or the church between us, though.
I respect religion and the church, but I put them in proper perspective, with regard to spirituality. I’ve found that religions and churches often deviate from what should be their main focus, addressing other priorities, such as tiding, fundraising, televangelism, and social media. …popularity, materialism, etc.
They do a get deal of charity ministries as well. It’s not directly their fault, but the sources of their funding, contribute to making poverty and inequity comfortable, instead of working to totally eliminate it, making those that they help self-sufficient.
Generally speaking, they continue such ministries, foundations and governments keep funding their causes, people keep receiving, but their long-term status remains the same.
Though these efforts may be well-intentioned spiritually, they impeded the closeness that I needed to have with the God of my understanding. I seek, still today, enlightenment. Beyond wisdom and faith, I want to be immersed in the spirit of God.
Furthermore, I wanted to shape the image of the God of my understanding. God bestowed me with this free will. I wanted to use this blessing to see God as I wanted to based on my journey, failures, triumphs, and ever-evolving wisdom.
I longed to see the God in me, and in every living creature. I longed to experience a multidimensional sensee of God, not a one-dimensional one.

I remember, in early 2000, when participating in an exercise that Minister Rev. Barry Vennard, of Unity Church, asked participants, in a Unity Church spiritual workshop to do. This exercise still sticks with me today.
Minister Vennard asked all participants to close their eyes and imagine God as they would like him to be. He asked that we imagine how he would be towards us? Would he judge us? How would he treat us when we made mistakes? What would he say about our pain, mistakes, defeats, and victories? How would he encourage us through our trials? …And so on and so forth.
We all closed our eyes, and here is how I imagined God.

He thinks that I am beautiful, and is quite proud of me. He wanted me to know that he ‘has my back’. He says that he would never let me fail, and will guide me whenever I lose my way.
He would never judge me for he knows all the circumstances that led me to make the choices that I have. He’s proud of all I had accomplished, and the lessons I learned from my mistakes.
He wants me to know that he is my best friend and would never leave me. He wants me to rest assured that he is the Almighty and no one or nothing is greater than He. He assures me that he is my healer. Therefore, he wants me to have peace of mind, gratitude, and joy in knowing that he is always there for my greater good.

Minister Vennard, then said, “Now open your eyes”. He then said, ‘That is exactly who God is.’
This exercise was very powerful!
I’m sure that Rev. Vennard still does this exercise at his current Unity Church in Las Vegas, the last I heard. This exercise allowed me to seriously contemplate God, as I wanted to see him. It was very freeing, so much so, that I still hold this invisible image and persona of God today. This God still brings me peace of mind.

Knowing that God is so relatable and supportive brings me peace of mind through all challenges. It certainly was key to my most significant challenges, especially during my health and caregiving battles, but also in my corporate and entrepreneurial successes.
I access God’s power through intense and methodical prayer and meditation practices. I visualize the same imageless God of comfort and tranquility.

There are times when I can get off track spiritually and require these rituals in my life as staples to keep me spiritually grounded. Especially in the midst of the uncertainty of whatever the hell is going on today, and whatever will ultimately happen. God gives me refuge and peace because He assures me that there is no need to be stressed, worried, or depressed.
He whispers to me, “Sit here, rest my child”.
As a result of my rituals, I rarely feel any of these emotional states often. Generally, I am at peace with God, and with myself. I am not always on this vibe simply because I must interact with the world, which is at a much lower vibration.
Like the posts, videos, quotes, and poems below will also reveal, ‘peace of mind’ requires more than just understanding & trusting God.
It requires regular prayer, meditation, as well as constant regulation of the distracting energy of the world.

Based on my life experience and on the wisdom that others have shared, Peace of Mind requires:
- Do Not Be Resentment
- Do Not Feel Unworthy
- Do Not Be Jealously
- Do Not Avoid Responsibility
- Have Good Intentions
- Have Integrity & Honesty
- Do No Live In Fear
- Find Peace of Mind within yourself – You can’t buy it or drug yourself into peace – It’s an inside job; not outside of you.
- Acknowledge that problems and suffering will always be there, but instead of focusing on the problems, acknowledge the discernment you are gaining through your trials. This Truth is priceless. It gives you hope, which makes things magically manifest, as God intends them to.
- Create Peace for and in yourself; family, friends, or lovers cannot create it for you. Money or material things can’t either
- Develop a realistic attitude; Life and the world are not perfect. We aren’t either, not one.
- Appreciate that everyone has problems. You are not unique. Be Honest about problems – This gives you inner strength
- Be Truthful, Transparent, and Realistic
Shift your mindset from lack to that of abundance. “The Horn of Plenty has an endless supply.” – Kevy Michaels

- Don’t mask your pain, depression, and issues – Deal with them realistically and head on
- Accept that Life Seasons are meant to elevate us, not make us feel rage, overwhelmed, or anxiety
- Think differently
- Guard your spirit of toxic thinking
- Accept that everything must change. Nothing Changes, if Nothing Changes.
- Accept that we cannot control everything
- Knowing with certainty that you are never alone
- Stop trying to please the world. The World will never be satisfied.
- Live in Harmony with the world around you, especially with Nature. Nature is God.
- Not putting energy and power into problems. They will only get bigger. It will pull you away from a much greater vision

Poems/Song
Peacefully
By Kevy Michaels
Peaceful as a park
On Sunday morning
Just before the sun
Ignites the sky
Peaceful as the dew
That rests on each blade of grass
As the ducks
Gather nearby
This is where I am now
One with nature
This is my place of comfort
…Alone
But, not really
Coexisting Peacefully
With God
In Gratitude
As tranquil as a raindrop
When it touches a still pond
Creating ripples
Like vibrations
Like light
Radiating around the Sun
Where I am now
I wish to never leave
Tuned to nature’s vibration
From God
Uplifting my Spirit
All existing most peacefully
Blessed with nectar coated tweets
From three birds in a live oak tree
A gentle breeze
Whose caressing flow
Elevates Gratitude
Cotton-fluffed clouds high
…Soul-Deep
Of the purest of clarity!
But only with nature
Will I maintain this state
I thought
I’d be receiving this in heaven
But God made me wait
So that I’d exist
In this beautiful surround
…Truly peacefully
Peace without
Nature’s captivation
Is just not peaceful enough
For me

In Prayerful Peacefulness
By Kevy Michaels
As peaceful as a feather gliding on a gentle fall breeze
As tranquil as a sloth perched in a tree
Immersed in euphoric nothingness
I’m entranced by God’s love for me
I’m meditative
I’m with God
In prayerful peacefulness
The world’s revolving around me while I’m in stillness
Like a child watching a Ferris wheel spin without him
Attached to my immediate surroundings like a caterpillar on a leaf
I’m encapsulated by divinity
I am transcendent
I’m with God
In prayerful peacefulness
I don’t want to ever leave this state
I’m like an infant bound to his mother’s breast
A cub in the warmth of the lioness that licks his wounds
If only I could
Take a mere fragment of this Tranquility with me
I know that I’ll be illuminated
…Always with God
In prayerful peacefulness
Wherever I may be

Peace of Mind
By Kevy Michaels
I’ve finally found joy
It wasn’t easy
But like all good things
It’s so easy to loose
Got to keep my feet on the ground
…Gotta keep my composure
Can’t let the world give me the blues
Cause I know…
Where there’s peace there’ll be joy
But only when I can
Touch that special place in my heart
I know that I
I need peace
I deserve this peace
So that my soul can finally be free…..
Chorus
Give me peace of mind today
That’s what I need…
…I won’t take your money
Nor a bunch of friends
You know people…
…Can be oh so funny
I already had everything in my life….
Along with all the pain and strife
But nothing is as priceless
As having Peace of mind
I’ve endured so much in my life
Highs above the clouds
Lows beneath the ground
Had all the money in the world
To buy impressive things
So that others would hang around
But I never…
Found complete happiness
Though I had…
Such a big audience
The clouds just followed over
A life filled with material pretense
But
I needed peace
I wanted peace
To bring joy back to my heart

Eckhart Tolle: Why You Aren’t At Peace Right Now – Leigh Newman – Oprah.Com – Published 11/01/2012
Peace is one of the most important human experiences. If you don’t have peace, then you’re not able to appreciate whatever else you do have. In fact, you may not even be able to recognize the good in your life because you have not recognized the good in yourself—yet. Here are a few things that may be getting your way:
- You Mistake Peace for Unconsciousness
- You Mistake Peace for Happiness
- You Keep Looking Ahead (or Looking Back)
- You Strain Away from the Present Moment
- You Don’t Fully Trust…Yet
Be the Presence of Compassion and Peace – By Deepak Chopra, M.D.
At the level of consciousness or spirit, we are all inextricably connected to everyone and everything. While our body may appear to be a solid physical structure, in reality it’s an ever-flowing river of energy and information, in constant dynamic exchange with the environment around us. Read More
Wayne Dyer’s 12-Step Program to Simplicity – How to Specifically Make Time for the Important Things in Life – Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
Rather than giving you some general suggestions for implementing the ideas herein, I’m going to give you 12 very specific tools for simplifying your life. Begin using them today if you’re serious about hearing that ultimate call to inspiration.
- Unclutter your life.
- Get rid of anything that keeps you mired in acquisitions that contribute to a cluttered life.
- Clear your calendar of unwanted and unnecessary activities and obligations. – Be sure to keep your free time free.
- Take time for meditation and yoga.
- Give yourself at least 20 minutes a day to sit quietly and make conscious contact with God. I’ve written an entire book on this subject called Getting in the Gap, so I won’t belabor it here. I will say that I’ve received thousands of messages (including the one from Gail Beale, shared below) from people all over the world, who have expressed their appreciation for learning how to simplify their life by taking the time to meditate.
- Return to the simplicity of nature.
- Put distance between you and your critics.
- Take some time for your health.
