Deepak Don’t Throw Shade – I Just Gave UR 7 Spiritual Laws Swag! – Kevy’s 1st Law Of Detachment – The Corona Remix – Law On Not Letting Corona Freak U Out

“Action without attachment is the secret to a life without stress” – Deepak Chopra

I hope that Deepak doesn’t hate me for bastardizing the order and interpretation of the original Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.  Today I begin with the first of seven posts, one for each law.

This post is on ‘my first’ law, The Law of Detachment.

I say ‘my first law’ because, this is not Deepak’s first law.  I chose the Law of Detachment first because it highlights a key virtue for enduring through the Coronavirus pandemic.  It is expressed in the quote above, being detached from outcomes, is the key to living a stress-free life.  With regard to the pandemic, we should simply trust God and be unattached to fear and worry about what will happen.  That is the Lord’s job, not ours.  The other six laws are equally important, but not as the first law, in my opinion.

I don’t believe that Deepak will be upset with me bedazzling the principles.  Hating is not his nature.  Besides, in this small life-transforming book Deepak asks readers to share the seven principles with others.  I am doing so now with you.

The Seven Spiritual Laws of SuccessDeepak Chopra’s book, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, resonated with me so well that I took heed to each of the laws as I started implementing them in my life over 20 years ago. I was so astonished by these simple laws of living, that I shared the “good news” with everyone who I felt would be receptive.

I’ve given copies of the book in Costa Rica, South Africa, Europe, and other countries, including here in the States. I’ve given the book to friends, family, and complete strangers, in person, and through the blog and on social media.

Needless to say, I am all but evangelically about the message in this less than a 100-page book.

I share it with you now because I care and because we are in trying, but crucial times. I will continue to share these principles until the day that I leave this earth, with the hope that some or all of the laws will resonate with others, and perhaps lead us towards spiritual transformation.

Please note that The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success is not the kind of book you read once, and ‘get it’. It will take reading it multiple times, over many years to come. I have read it umpteen times. I just read the chapter on Detachment in preparation for this post.  It’s like reading the bible.

I haven’t found these principles in conflict with the teachings of the bible.  In fact, I have found each principal complementary to the bible.  It is very unoffensive if you are not easily offended.  Obviously if you want to pick a fight, you may be offended.

I don’t  believe that The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success conflicts with other religious teachings either, including Baha’i, Buddhism, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Shinto, Sikhism, Taoism, and Zoroastrianism

“I can only speak from a personal standpoint, but for me, I loved this book/audiobook. Even if you’re religious, it does not conflict with any of your beliefs, although, to let you know, I think some of what is said is mentioned in the bible. It’s like a how-to change and go to with living a certain way. As he breaks down each law, he makes you think, reflect, and look at you and the way you are living your life.”   – Lady Raven RAVE!

In this remix of the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success  I have taken the liberty of changing the order, as I did in past posts.  I changed the order because I have found that though the laws synergize with each other, they are each effective independently.

Over the years that I have read this book, I have found myself needing to go back to a particular chapter or two for inspirations, without rereading the others.  Furthermore, I have found that different circumstances require the intensity of different laws.

We are in crucial times now.  So, outside of the fact that the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success posts are my most-read posts, I am representing them again, remixed, for today’s crisis.

Two Year Anniversary

seasons as teachers website

It’s been over 2 years now since I began this blog site.  I have changed since then, and I am proud that I have.  Writing close to 200 posts has caused me to evaluate myself more.  I recognize that I have changed.  I will forever grow and evolve.  I want to continue on this road.  I will never desire to stay the same.

Over the years, I have become more patient with others, though I still have a way to go on this front.  I have become more to myself, but in a healthy way.  I spend more time alone in prayer, meditation, interacting with the Earth, helping others, creating, and caring for my whole-body.

I no longer require the validation from others that I once vigorously sought.  I love myself more today, than two years ago.  I am not as obsessed with the wicked things that people do, as I once was.  This includes no longer being frazzled by the unjust actions of colleagues, friends, former friends, and family, namely my siblings.

I used to feel that I had to prove others wrong and myself right, but not anymore.  I see their deeds as their Karma, and mine as mine.  We are all making deposits into and taking withdrawals from the great Karmic Bank of Life (my concept).  They will get their just due, and I will get mine.  There is no action needed on my part.

I have expanded my brand of communication and sharing, quite unapologetically.  I express what I feel.  I tend to gravitate towards controversial topics.  I enjoy opening cans of worms and am not bashful about calling out inconsistencies in what we do, relative to what we preach.

Many followers, based on their comments, ‘feel me’ too.  Many do not and that’s okay.  I never fantasized that I would be liked by the masses.  I realize that I am on a vibration, less-traveled, and much despised.

I have changed the blog’s name several times, but each time the intention was to more clearly convey lessons, emotions, experiences, and knowledge gained while enduring through Life Seasons.  I would have never imagined when I began blogging from my home that I would reach thousands of people from nearly 200 different countries.

This keeps me encouraged to continue sharing at my own expense and labor.  …Now back to the Law of Detachment.  I had to find a place to include the blog’s anniversary without creating a new post.

“In detachment lies the wisdom of uncertainty . . . in the wisdom of uncertainty lies the freedom from our past, from the known, which is the prison of past conditioning.  And in our willingness to step into the unknown, the field of all possibilities, we surrender ourselves to the creative mind that orchestrates the dance of the universe.” – Deepak Chopra

“Allow yourself and others the freedom to be who they are. Do not force solutions—allow solutions to spontaneously emerge. Uncertainty is essential, and your path to freedom.”  – Deepak Chopra

We should accept uncertainty if we are to accept the grandeur of God and the universe as a whole.

We cannot endure through that challenges of today, especially the Coronavirus pandemic if we are uneasy about knowing what’s going to happen.  We cannot live in fear of the unknown while claiming that ‘God is good, all the time’.   If we believe that God is good, then we have no reason to fear the coronavirus pandemic or any other crisis or disaster, whether personal or global.

I find adventure in the unknown and uncertain because I surrender to what’s God’s plan for me.  Certainly if I believe that God is a loving God, then his plan can’t ultimately be bad for me.

According to Deepak, our consciousness sets our expectations and causes fear and worry.  In addition to the coronavirus illness, the experiences of fear and worry are illnesses too.   He states that we must shift our awareness from the experience of what will happen to us.  We must not be mounted to the experience of fear to be free from it.  This is a time for me sober and minimize panic and stress.  This is a time to respect life, all life, and an opportunity for all of us to change to a completely healthy lifestyle.   It is time to take care of ourselves, and each other.  We must see life as sacred and divine, and see this challenge as only making us stronger.

That doesn’t mean that we may not be challenged or uncomfortable with uncertainty.  At times, I may feel very uncomfortable, as many of my friends do right now.  Some are confused about why God is allowing the coronavirus, “The Lobster”, joblessness, global warming, and many other seemingly bad things to happen.

But I do not pose this challenge to the Lord.  I remind myself that I have yet to see the ultimate consequences of these events.  In the final analysis the end result may be good for us all.

Based on my life experiences, often my worst fears, brought on by trials and challenges resulted in unforeseen good, which was ultimately realized many years later.   For example:

  • Being very ill made me more conscious about taking better care of my health and lifestyle.
  • Being an insecure people-pleaser for years, through disappointment and pain, lead me to confidence, better self-worth, and self-love.
  • Losing nearly all of my material possessions, becoming bankrupt to care for my elderly mother, humbled me. Now I need less, have less, and am happier.

Experiences like these are what makes me ‘be still’ with regard to the coronavirus.  Generally, I am not in fear or worry.  I surrendered years ago, so I am good right now.  In these times, and in all of Life Seasons, I will be in constant search for the good in bad situations.

Historically, there seems to be a pattern between disastrous events occurring that result in wiser and more vibrant recoveries in the aftermath.  Examples include 911, Hurricane Katrina, Oil Spills, School Shooting, and Polarizing Politics.  In each of these cases, as a society we have evolved to instituting safeguards, laws, behaviors, and actions that would prevent or lessen such events from occurring so aggressively in the future.

With regard to the Corona Pandemic, there are positive impacts surfacing, if we look for them.  Corona is not all bad, as I pointed out in the post Corona We Know Whatz Bad – So Whatz Good? – The Positive Side Of The Coronavirus.

The Law of Detachment is very powerful! It simply states that with good intentions and desires, we should pursue our dreams, but must be detached from outcomes or situations.

As it relates to today, I interpret this law as requiring that we not focus on the aftermath of today’s messy political, climate, and pandemic circumstances.  Instead, we should simply focus on our own good intentions and positive desires, and leave the aftermath up to the God of our understanding.  That seems pretty fair to me that the law encourages us to put out more good into the universe in seemingly bad times, and trust that God will do the rest.

In crisis times like today’s, I suggest that we just focus on being better humans, not on how as mere mortals were are going to defeat the universe and a pandemic that is affecting the nearly 8 billion people on the planet.  We will never win at such a test, but can make substantial progress on changing ourselves, and therefore changing our world.

This law requires the ultimate in trust.  …Trusting God to deliver the rest and being comfortable that God will deliver well, really well.

I know that this law works, as I have experienced many examples in my life.  Detachment is the ultimate exercise in trusting God. But it does not mean detaching from life itself, though.

It simply states that by focusing on outcomes, we limit possibilities. We limit God’s blessings, which are unlimited by its very nature.

In other words, get out of the way and let the Lord do the work.

I have come to realize that one of my biggest frustrations in life was thinking that I had to solve every challenge that presented itself to me.  On the contrary, I now realize that my most feared battles were never mine to fight.  I only had the responsibilities of making discerned choices and trusting God.  The Law of Detachment asks that we detach ourselves for outcomes over which we have no control.  We are mere mortals in this universe.  We should not forget that.

The opposite of Detachments is Attachments.  Attachment is very flawed and egotistical.

Attachment implies trusting yourself, based on your past, conditioning, and beliefs.  The reason that so many people are living in fear and worry during the pandemic is that they have never experienced a pandemic before, and have few experiences upon which to draw their wisdom.  Furthermore, they are powerless at the moment, as are doctors in creating a vaccine or cure.  They are mounted in the outcome of the pandemic but don’t have a clue what to do.

Attachment is limiting because it does not invite or welcome greater possibilities.  It only welcomes the ones that involve us, ones that we conjure in our heads, based on what we have already seen or experienced.

But in uncertainty and insecurity is where wisdom resides.  Uncertainty defines who we really are.  Many who were wise and boastful at certain times are mutes now in uncertainty.

I have a friend in San Antonio, she makes most people smile by her carefree nature, as she does with me. She lives life vicariously, dressing how she chooses, in Stevie Nicks hippie attire, her preference. …And with flowers in hair if she chooses to.  The way she dresses is a small clue as to how she lives her life.

She frequently takes trips, with little money, and no worry about how she will make ends meet, when she returns. She goes after what she wants and pursues it, without discussion or evaluation, simply because she feels it.

Always, she does this by first putting her intentions on a particular desire out there for God and the universe. She proudly proclaims them and proceeds with courage. She does vision quests often and has invited me to participate. I have.

“Such time [Vision Quests] can open up new possibilities for seeing ourselves and our world, giving us vision and strength to meet challenges or make changes in our lives. This is the purpose of the Vision Quest.” – SoulCraft – Wilderness-Based Vision Quest

I speak with her regularly today and the coronavirus has not changed her.  She is not too fearful to work with elderly patients in a nursing home, nearly every day.  And, she still vision quests her way through life challenges.

You know what? It seems she still gets what she desires.

God makes her visions manifest because she set out good intentions and trusts that God would deliver the outcome of her desires.  She is not mounted in the outcome and is detached from fear and worry.

“The Law of Detachment is a powerful spiritual law to which I can attest.” – Kevy Michaels

It requires a true unwavering trust in God. You cannot say or proclaim things about God’s grace, but not believe them, or trust him, in practice, and expect this law to work for you.

“If you cannot believe in things unseen and cannot trust an invisible God, you will fail at the Law of Detachment.” – Kevy Michaels

The law requires surrender, which is one of my favorite virtues. Surrendering requires that we do not allow our egos, and our thinking the power to shape our destiny.  It requires that our egos control nothing! Only God does.

The Law of Detachment requires acknowledging and harnessing God’s grace…and believing in it.

Attachment says in essence to God, “I’ve got this God”. This attitude tells God that we don’t need his intervention.  So, we go it alone, but never figure out all the intricacies of getting to our goal.  And when confronted with an intricacy for which were are unprepared, we freak out.  We are in fear.

But, with detachment, we are not startled to figure it all out, because uncertainty is built in our plan. That being understood, we adapt to forks in the road and don’t get our panties all in a wad when confronted with a challenge that is greater than our paygrade.

With regard to the coronavirus, we need to chill, dammit!

The outcome of this matter is out of our hands, beyond the many precautions that we must prudently take.  But the worrying and fearmongering serve no purpose so we must stop it.

As I searched and reviewed articles and videos on this law, I found that there’s also misleading information out there that distorts how the Law of Detachment works.

“The Spiritual Law Of Detachment does not mean detaching from life itself. It simply means that you detach from outcomes, and trust that God will handle those parts.” – Kevy Michaels

Personally, when applying the Law of Detachment, I found myself generally trying to please God’s will in every aspect of my life.  I was detached from whether he would save me, cure me, pay my bills, or grant me access to fulfilling my dreams.  I simply passionately followed his will, as I understood it.  I respected life, nature, my body temple, other people, gave generously, cared for others, and constantly created.  I did these things without expectations, knowing that whatever was the outcome, it was the one that God ordained for me.

The Law of Detachment, not only led me to stillness, over time it molded me into a better Child of God.

I am detached from fear of the Coronavirus, whether Trump will win again, religious deception, and global warming.  I simply do my deeds, while being detached from believing that I or any man has ultimate power over these things.

I simply make wise choices and try my level best to please God’s will.  In doing so, I am not fearful about what he may allow to happen to me.  I know, whatever happens, it will be good in the end.

We cannot successfully apply the Law of Detachment unless we physically detach from things in our environment.  We will not be able to detach if we are immersed in the confusion of misinformation, brainwashing, and poor mental and physical routines and habits.  We may have to change even more, as I have, to become detached from the chaos of the pandemic or any crisis.

One of the most wonderful aspects of the Law of Detachment is that it does require that we change.  We will have to change our habits, lifestyle, associates, and sources of information.  These changes are positive ones.  All change is really positive simply because it will be there.  We cannot fight change and expect to continue to evolve.  Everything must change, even us.

Here is a short list of changes that we may have to make in order to become more detached from the outcome:

  • Stop watching the news so damn much. Watch once a day, once a week, or once a month.  You will feel better almost immediately.  Stop the search for shizzo on the internet.  You will find the grim story that you are looking for.
  • Get more rest, preferably 7 – 8 hours each night.
  • Meditate & Pray, daily if possible. Practice yoga if you are stretchy.  I am not, not, not!
  • Support each other. View this as a time to come together.
  • Maintain healthy emotions. See this as a time of reflection and recalibration of your life and lifestyle.
  • Exercise and movement are important for reducing stress and anxiety. Take hikes, walks, or other relaxing activities that require movement.
  • Watch your diet. Eat nutritious food, and in proper portion.
  • Stay positive even if you have to ‘Fake it until you make it’. Don’t look for negative events to discuss with others. Change negative conversations into positive ones.
  • Take healthy supplements that promote immunity and reduce inflammation including Turmeric, Vitamin C & D, Ginger, Aloe Vera, Probiotics, etc. Note:  Take what you really believe works for you.  Just thinking that it works will give you a 30% chance of a placebo effect benefit, even if it doesn’t.
  • Hope that our leaders come together to solve this civilization problem. Our wellbeing and health are interconnected with other countries.  Write to them, express your opinions, blog.
  • Don’t panic or panic purchase. If you panic, then check your faith.
  • Stay away from conspiracy theories. They will only aggravate you.
  • Become more digital. Learn and teach others computer technology, the internet, social media, and communication apps.  Learn and teach others how to use helpful smartphone features.

    1. That is so beautiful to hear. Exercise your faith. Be responsible and discerned. That’s your part. Then be detached from the outcome. Being detached will force you to do more good things and fulfil his will simply because of the unknown outcome. Exercise your faith by not worrying or living in fear with confidence that you did your part and God will surely do his. Warm Regards Kevy

Es tan hermoso escuchar eso. Ejercita tu fe. Saludos cordiales Kevy
