I have a rather difficult time explaining holistic healing to friends and people I meet.
“When I stand before thee at the day’s end, thou shalt see my scars and know that I had my wounds and also my healing.” ― Rabindranath Tagore
Those who follow conventional medicine are always looking for a cure for this or that. When in actuality they are relieving a symptom, never addressing the underlining problem, and as a result, may actually be causing your body additional harm.
Conventional medicine focuses on symptoms, which is the smallest part of the equation. Symptoms could also be related to diet, nutrition, stress, emotions, oneness, and toxins, including people, but conventional medicine doesn’t seem to give these aspects of illness much attention.
Conventional medicine does not consider God’s influence either, and how strongly we believe. It does not consider miracles or the magical, but many unexplained miracles occur. Ironically, doctors are aware of things that they just can’t explain, but may not talk about such exceptional cases. I am here to tell you conclusively that such medical exceptions do exist. I am one of them.
Conventional medicine does not look at the “whole” picture, body, mind, and spirit.
It is unfortunate because there are very promising aspects of conventional medicine, which are complementary to natural healing. For example, in trauma care, there isn’t a tea, vitamin, plant, or guided meditation that will relieve and heal, say a gun wound, a broken limb, or cardiovascular trauma caused by careless living.
Conventional medicine uses the best diagnostic tools. I rely on blood lab work, MRIs, x-rays, urine, and stool tests, when they are necessary. But relying on these investigative protocols does not mean that I will always follow the treatment.

Often conventional medicine’s diagnoses lead me to seek natural treatments. This is especially the case when conventional medicine’s treatment requires making a commitment to taking life-medications. I hope to never be on prescription medicine for the rest of my life. I never plan to be on cholesterol, pressure, cardiovascular, fluid, diabetes, thyroid, or psych meds.
I feel strongly about this and have practiced this philosophy for nearly 30 years now.
But still, conventional medicine is not holistic.
It does not place emphasis where it should, in areas such as our state of mind, lifestyle, diet, emotions, and spiritual outlook. It fails to recognize in its diagnosis and treatments that God heals, and that we can heal our own bodies if we firmly believe that we can. Some aspects of holistic healing sound like witchcraft to many. I get that. That’s because most people have been trained not to recognize how powerful they are in healing themselves. We not only have access to a myriad of healthy lifestyle changes, we have access to spiritual healing, as well.
But, natural, complementary, and quantum healing has been vindicated by science.
I consider myself a ‘real deal brother’ and I am telling you that holistic healing works. Here’s where I try to explain what holistic or natural healing means to me.
- Holistic Healing involves the most obvious things, such as optimizing eating well, drinking plenty of water, and exercise, but not necessarily strenuous exercise. But it goes deeper.
- Holistic heal involves addressing rest, stress management, emotions, toxic situations, behaviors, and people.
- Then it goes even deeper, including elevating beliefs, spirituality, ability to surrender and to connect with the magnetic field of nature, and divine energy, which is accessible to us all.
That is a lot to absorb and attempt to embody. I agree that it is.
But you need to turn the challenge into a benefit, an adventure. See holistic health as you may look at spirituality. Because you can never reach perfection in becoming spiritual, you have a built-in incentive to continual try to improve. And, that desire never subsides, because you never reach spiritual perfection.
Holistic health is the same way. You will never become absolutely optimal in all of these areas. You will slip and fall at times. But be sure to get back on that horse.
You must also consider that ‘your being’ is a constantly evolving body of energy. The measures that you must follow to create what I call an Optimal Healthy Environment will change and evolve over time.
So, please don’t get discouraged by the deepness and broadness of Holistic Healthy practices. See it as a way of life in which you aim to grow and evolve, until the day you die.
The reason that it is so difficult to explain holistic healing to those who ask about it, is because they fail to realize that even if I told them of a supplement, vegetable, herb, tea, or cleanse regiment, it will not work unless they practice the regiment, within an optimally healthy body environment. Alternative regimens may work a little under other conditions, but will work best when one eats properly, sleeps properly, relaxes, pray, meditate, drink plenty of water, and detox regularly.
It is difficult for most to find it appealing to go to the depths of these alternative healing measures, especially when they compare that to just taking a pill, and being done with it.
There is an interesting contrast, though, between living holistically versus pharmaceutically. With the former, you will prevent a myriad of illnesses and diseases from ever occurring in the future, in addition to the ailment that you are aiming to address.
With holistic healing, you are creating a body, mind, and spirit that is a repellant to any disease. Scientifically, and actually, in my life, there is a certain state of being that makes it nearly impossible for disease to propagate, even if it is in the body, such as a cold.
With conventional medicine, your treatment and regiment will be easier and more convenient.
This is because treatment does not invade your emotions, diet, and spirit much. Your regular routine is not affected by having to take a prescription, well not very much.
The problem is that conventional medicines, particularly prescription medicine can throw your body chemistry out of sync with how it is supposed to operate naturally. As a result, your organs, mind, energy, and emotions are affected because these processes are chemical too, and the mixture of chemicals has changed.
Needless to say, later in life with conventional medicine, you’ll end up what chronic this and that. Then it is too late to have regrets or do much about it.
After years of following conventional treatments, one can become a slave to it, not being able to get off of drugs that they have taken for years, along with the ones they take to address the side effects of that very drug.
In New Orleans, conventional medicine is practiced like genocide on the poor and elderly. Along with the New Orleans’ excessive and “fried lifestyle”, the medicines are causing a significant number of the young, and nearly the majority of the old the same common diseases: Cardiovascular, Diabetes, Clogged Arteries, Thyroid, Liver, and Kidney issues.
Thank you, Lord, that I have none of those conditions, none. I have been evolving in holistic healing for nearly 30 years, even when I lived a life filled with destructive behavior. I evolved to where I am today.
To make my holistic health evolutionary journey even further, I do not take any regular medications, prescription or over-the-counter, not even aspirin, headache pills, or cough syrup!
I have not totally abandoned conventional medicine, though. Occasionally, I will have to get immediate treatment for an aggravating condition, such as sinuses, throat, respiratory, or infections. These prescriptions usually only last 5 – 10 days. But I take them still adhering to optimal health rules of nutrition, rest, water, and relaxation.
Also, I research where the medicine does its damage, and find natural ways to offset the damage. For instance, when I take antibiotics, I focus on adding probiotics and prebiotics to my diet, before, during, and after the prescription is complete.
I feel pretty comfortable with using conventional medicine strategically in this way. But, I practice holistic health in my day-to-day. I rely on conventional medicine for its diagnostics, lab work, trauma care, and relief from chronic conditions.
Again, I don’t ever plan to take regular medicine prescriptions for such conditions as high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, kidney or liver disease. I will never take prescription medicine that directly affects the mind.
God owns my mind, period! Many medicines that have nothing to do with the mind, affect the mind simply because they alter body chemicals. I try my best to stay away from those types of drugs. Sterols are a good example of this.
My approach to healing has evolved from true Holistic Healing to Complimentary Healing, in this regard. The articles below explain Complimentary Healing.
“Defining Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Complementary medicine is used in conjunction with more traditional remedies; alternative medicine is used by itself.” – By Sara Calabro – Medically Reviewed by Niya Jones, MD, MPH
Complementary and alternative medicine, or CAM, is a category of medicine that includes a variety of treatment approaches that fall outside the realm of conventional medicine. An increasing amount of research is being done to establish the safety and efficacy of alternative medicine. But compared with traditional “Western” therapies such as drugs, research on alternative medicine is still limited.
It is important to understand the difference between complementary medicine and alternative medicine — the two approaches are often lumped together but are, in fact, distinct.
Complementary medicine refers to healing practices and products that work in conjunction with traditional medicine. For example, a cancer patient receiving chemotherapy may also undergo acupuncture to help manage chemo side effects like nausea and vomiting. Alternative medicine differs in that it is not used as a complement to, but rather as a substitute for traditional therapy. An example would be a cancer patient who forgoes recommended chemotherapy and instead chooses to treat the disease with specific dietary changes. Read More
There are literally hundreds of complementary medicine techniques. While some treatments have been studied in breast cancer patients, others have not. We have noted which treatments have and have not been studied in breast cancer patients. ALWAYS check with your doctor before beginning any complementary treatment.
Although not every complementary technique is listed here, we’ve included information about the most widely used complementary techniques. Read More
My approach to healing today is now evolving further into the area of Quantum Healing. Quantum Healing appeals to me because it can be a very spiritual form of healing. It is also scientific in that the mind-body connection has been proven in many different ways. Some studies conclude that our cells and even atoms have its own consciousness.
The articles below explain Quantum Healing.
Quantum Healing – How does healing work at the cellular level? – My Holistic Healing
Every feeling, every emotion and every thought creates a change in our body chemistry at the subatomic level. And it is these quantum changes that create our state of health. Quantum healing explains why everybody has the ability to change the condition of their physical body regardless of age, health status or body type.
The magic of quantum healing (also called cellular healing) is based on one fundamental concept: Where thought goes, energy flows. Read More
Theories of evolution and genetics have long taught that genetic mutation is entirely random. However, genetics has been gradually stepping into a new era of “self-directed biological transformation,” a mouthful perhaps, but with great significance in each word:
- Self-Directed: Voluntary activity in your thoughts, feelings, habits, and desires. This is the realm of personal choice
- Biological: Effects at every level of the mind-body system, including reactions by your genetic material
- Transformation: Major shifts in cellular activity leading to physiological changes
This means that control is being given back to each person; we are no longer seen as puppets of our DNA. The human genome is set to be the stage for future evolution that we ourselves direct, making choice an integral part of genetics. Read More
Our Medical Disclaimer
I must always remind readers to read our medical disclaimer. I do this not because I don’t believe in the protocols that I recommend. I do it because most alternative healing is not accepted in westernized cultures, and I could be fined for giving what is considered ‘medical advice’.
My perspective, however, is that all healing is not ‘medical’. Some treatments involve diet, lifestyle, spirit, state of mind, and even miracles.
There are other more practical reasons why I must stress reading our medical disclaimer.
I have paired the list down to four items:
- I am unsure of your conditions, and if the diagnostics (namely blood work) accurately identifies that you have a condition.
I prepare for examinations and labs nearly a month in advance. I follow each of the pillars of optimal health up to the day that I am examined. I do this because test results can be throw off by lifestyle choices, and before you know it, you believe that you have a condition that you may not. Diabetes and cholesterol are good examples of this phenomenon, whereby poor test results can be affected by not preparing for the test.
I am simply unsure if you have the condition that you believe that you have. The result you received could be temporary.
- I am unsure of the medicines that you are taking and the effects that they have on your body. Your condition could be related to prescription medicine, and only you know what medicines you take.
- I am unsure of your lifestyle. With holistic healing, everything is related to health, mind, body, and spirit. I just don’t know your status in this regard.
- I don’t know your spirit. Your spirit and attitude affect the production of chemicals in your brain and therefore your overall health. Holistic healing requires positivity, confidence, and courage. It requires surrender to a power higher than man. Even if one followed the regiments that I suggest, they may not work if your mind is not right for the holistic health journey.
The bottom line is that designing your health plan is personal.
There are many aspects of ‘your being’ to which only you are aware. Complimented by advice from medical and naturopathic practitioners that you trust, must ultimately define your regiment and the pace to which you will make the necessary lifestyle changes.
So, please read our medical disclaimer statement. Alternative regiments work best if you practice a holistic lifestyle and believe in the benefits of the regiments you follow.
Kevy’s Healthy Environment
These are the regiments that I follow currently to maintain optimal health. This is the components are my healthy environment, an environment where illness find challenge existing, and replicating.
I have painstakingly provided links to every health regiment listed below. I suggest that you research each for yourself. I am providing a plethora of information that I have already researched and filtered through, for myself. This post should keep you quite busy, researching all that I provide.
I may not have listed every regiment that I follow. But, this list should give you a strong health foundation. Keep in mind, it took me 30 years to get to this level of optimal health. Over those years I operated blindly, on misinformation, and was not ‘totally healthy’. I have reacted to some of the natural treatments that I’ve tried, never life-threatening, but I have experienced bouts of diarrhea, low energy, and digestive issues. But nothing natural ever threatened my life.
This list has been enhanced and refined based on alternative successes, and lessons learned:
Eating a Healthy Diet (Including Clean Meats), Eating Organic When It Matters (Dirty Dozen List), Juicing/Smoothies, Little Sugar, Probiotic/Prebiotics, Water, Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Detox Body, The Zapper, The Ozonator
