I’m A Fan of Mixed Marriages – Especially Between Turmeric & Black Pepper

Turmeric is one of those healing foods, like ginger, garlic, apples, mushrooms, and carrots that may serve as healing miracles, straight from God’s pharmacy. Ironically, the active ingredients in these foods, as with Turmeric, is used in making many medicines.

I have been using Turmeric for years. I use it in cooking, the root in smoothies and for juicing. I was well aware its benefits and often share those benefits with customers at WFM.

But I was not aware how long the list of benefits really was, until I did additional research to support this post. I did not realize how well researched Turmeric is, and how many years it has been used effectively.

That is what I love about alternative healing, like spirituality, you never stop getting new information, and you never stop learning!

When you see and hear the benefits of Turmeric, you will be astonished! You may say, ‘Where have you been all of my life?’

Turmeric is literally, ‘The Spice of Life’.

A friend, Sue, who lives in New Orleans, mentioned that she was in a wonderful Facebook group dedicated to informing the public about the benefits of Turmeric. I joined several such groups, because I did not know which one to which she was a member. I am getting wonderful information from this source. I recommend that you seek out these groups too, and join.

Sue was the first to inform me that it is optimal to combine Turmeric with black pepper because taking Turmeric alone will not get it very well absorbed into your system.

I know that this theory is correct, for there are other regiments that people follow that really don’t serve much benefit because most benefits are destroyed by our body chemicals. Probiotics is a good example of this, where very little of what we may take ever makes it to our intestines where it is needed.

Sue is correct.

Turmeric and Black Pepper are married, and should not be separated.

Black Pepper helps Turmeric break down better in the body. There are studies that support this.

“Black pepper contains a compound, piperine, which inhibits the metabolic breakdown of turmeric compounds in the gut and the liver. This allows higher levels of turmeric compounds to remain in the body (i.e., it increases its bioavailability), which may increase the effects of turmeric.”- ConsumerLabs.Com

In fact, Turmeric’s wonderful benefits are supported by over 6000 studies. It has been found to be effective in nearly every way imaginable way, and has very little known side-effects.

“Be aware that the biggest problem with turmeric is making sure that its compounds are absorbed from the gut. You will absorb little if turmeric is not taken with along with fats or oils, which is why it’s best to take turmeric and curcumin with a meal containing fats or oils. “ConsumerLabs.Com

However, you should consult with your health care professional before stating a Turmeric regiment because can interfere with certain medicines.

Ironically, it boosts the effectiveness of blood thinners and diabetes medicines. You want to be cognizant of this, if you are taking related prescriptions. As mentioned, Turmeric is used to make lots of medicines. The irony is in the question, ‘Why are we taking the prescriptions, when there are effective natural alternatives such as Turmeric?’

Also, it has been not recommended to use Turmeric if you have gallbladder or liver problems
